ISIS Hostage Trial Begins in Paris

The trial of jihadist Mehdi Nemmouche and his co-accused for the kidnapping and torture of French journalists in Syria between 2013 and 2014 has started in Paris.

The four journalists, including Didier François and Edouard Elias, were abducted by ISIS while reporting on the Syrian civil war.

They endured nearly a year of captivity, moving between locations under harsh conditions, before being freed in April 2014. This case highlights the brutal tactics of ISIS, which targeted journalists and aid workers as leverage against Western nations.

The trial also recalls the broader atrocities of ISIS, including the infamous execution of American journalist James Foley in 2014. The proceedings aim to bring justice for the victims and shed light on the horrors faced by those captured during the conflict.
