Bilal Taghi, the first jihadist to carry out an attack in a French prison, has been stripped of his French nationality.
In 2019, he was sentenced to 28 years in prison for attempting to murder two prison guards at Osny in 2016, motivated by his allegiance to the Islamic State (IS).
The recent decree, published on August 7, 2024, follows a trend of increasing nationality revocations linked to terrorism.
This year alone, 17 individuals have lost their French nationality due to similar convictions.
Taghi's attack, which occurred in a unit designed for deradicalization, led to significant changes in how radicalized inmates are managed in France, including the establishment of specialized assessment quarters for radicalization.
